Reflexology in Cirencester and Fairford in the Cotswolds with Eileen Ford-Price M.A.R.
During a period of stress and ill health in the 1980s, I started to look into complementary therapies. Tai Chi helped me to overcome severe joint problems so that I was able to study Shiatsu and Thai Yoga Massage, qualifying in Thai Yoga Massage in 1996. I studied at the Central London School of Reflexology and became a qualified Reflexologist in 1997. I am a Full Member of the Association of Reflexologists and an Authorised Member of the Vertical Reflex Therapy Network. Over time I have gained experience of treating clients with a wide range of conditions, including chronic and acute musculoskeletal problems and people living with HIV.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a method of bringing about relaxation, balance and healing through the stimulation of specific points on the feet, or the hands. It is based on the concept that every part of the body is connected by energy pathways which end in reflex areas on the feet, the hands and the head.
By working over these reflexes in a precise and systematic way and, by applying controlled pressure, the reflexologist stimulates the body to achieve its own natural state of wholeness and good health.
What can Reflexology do for me?
Reflexology has been shown to be effective for:- Back pain; Migraine; Infertility; Arthritis; Sleep disorders; Sports injuries; Hormonal imbalances; Digestive disorders; Stress-related conditions. It has also been shown to reduce stress and absenteeism in the workplace. It is useful where other parts of the body are too painful to treat directly.
Who can benefit from a Reflexology treatment?
Reflexology can be used to treat people of all ages, from babies to the very elderly. Additionally, Vertical Reflex Therapy is a short treatment which is useful for treating children quickly and efficiently.
Is Reflexology safe during pregnancy?
Apart from a few special cases, Reflexology is a safe, effective therapy during pregnancy. It can help with a number of conditions that sometimes occur during pregnancy, such as oedema or symphisis pubis dysfunction. It has also been shown to shorten labour and to help with hypertension.
Vertical Reflex Therapy
As part of a treatment I use Vertical Reflex Therapy. VRT is especially effective for musculoskeletal problems and hormonal imbalances. It is a five-minute treatment which can be used in its own right for treating large numbers of people, eg in the workplace or sports teams. Alternatively, it can be used as an adjunct to a conventional Reflexology treatment.
What does a Reflexology treatment involve?
A complete medical and lifestyle history is taken, allowing you to discuss any matters of concern. This is completely confidential. This allows the treatment to be tailored to your own individual needs.
At the end of the treatment appropriate exercises and acupressure points may be shown so that you can continue to help yourself at home.
What Reflexology clients say:-
I slept much better last night - C; My sinus pain has gone - I; I have not had a headache since my treatment - M; The combination of Reflexology and Qi Gong is helping my arthritis - J; One hour after my Reflexology treatment my sciatica had gone - H.
